Australian Legend John Eales to be Guest Speaker at USRF Dinner

San Diego, CA (August 8, 2010) – John Eales, 2007 IRB Hall of Fame inductee and the victorious captain of the Australian Wallabies at the 1999 Rugby World Cup, will be the guest speaker at the USRF’s Annual Dinner. This year’s dinner will be held at the Mountain Chalet Aspen in Aspen, CO on Saturday, September 18, 2010 in conjunction with the Aspen Ruggerfest.Eales was just the sixth inductee into the IRB’s Hall of Fame when he was included in the Class of 2007. he stood along with the likes of rugby luminaries William Webb Ellis, Danie Craven, Pierre de Coubertin, Gareth Edwards and Wilson Whineray.He was the most successful captain in the history of Australian rugby having captained the Wallabies in 55 test matches. His 173 points in test rugby ranks him as the highest scoring forward in the history of the sport. He is also one of only a handful of players who was on two Rugby World Cup winning teams as he was also a member of Australia’s first RWC championship team in 1991.“We feel very fortunate to have a man of John’s stature be the guest speaker at what we hope will be an annual event at the Aspen Ruggerfest,” said USRF Executive Director Brian Vizard. “With all the Old Boy’s sides participating at Ruggerfest and with it’s beautiful backdrop, we feel Aspen is the perfect venue for our annual dinner. We hope that many of those taking part in the tournament will join us at the dinner to meet a true rugby legend.”The cost for this year’s event is just $125 and includes a buffet dinner, beer, the chance to win some unique prizes, and the opportunity to hear from one of the greatest players to ever take the field.
