Adam Mick is Crowned 2013 I’Maul In Charity Poker Tournament Champion

San Diego, CA (February 11, 2013) – After just over five hours of play, the results from the 4th Annual I’Maul In No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em Charity Poker Tournament are in. And the winner is (drumroll please) – former University of Nevada men’s team player and women’s team coach Adam Mick.Adam came out on top of the over 70 players that took part in this year’s I’Maul In Tournament. The action took place at the Poker Room at the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino. Located on the Las Vegas Strip and host to the international teams playing in the Las Vegas Sevens Tournament, the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino was the perfect location for the annual I’Maul In tournament.A nice setting, combined with friendly dealers and playful banter amongst the players made for a fun-filled event. Several current and past U.S. Eagles bellied up to the tables at this year’s tournament, including current U.S. captain Todd Clever, Kevin Swiryn, Dan Payne, Mike Saunders, Brian Vizard, John Jelaco, Rick Crivellone, Tim Kluempers, Chris Petrakes, Dave Bateman and Brian Gallagher. In addition, former Canadian internationals Tom Woods and Mark Cardinal played. As did Las Vegas Advisor founder, Anthony Curtis, a former Las Vegas Blackjacks rugby player.It took over four hours to get down to the final seven who made it to the cash. Rory Smith was the first to get knocked out. In sixth place came John Faulkner. Next to exit was Rob Skalka. Tim Long finished in 4th place. Former U.S. Sevens player Dave Bateman went home in 3rd place setting up the heads up battle between former OMBAC and Santa Rosa player Matt Eshoo and Mick.The two went at for about 10 hands before Eshoo decided to make his move, saying “I’Maul In” with A,8 suited. Mick hesitated for just a split second before making the call. Eshoo saw the bad news when Mick flipped over A, J. Eshoo couldn’t improve and Adam Mick took home this year’s I’Maul In spoils which included the first place cash prize of $1,442 along with the 2013 I’Maul In Tournament crystal trophy.“I would like to thank all those who took part in this year’s I’Maul In Tournament,” said US Rugby Foundation Executive Director Brian Vizard. “We had more players this year than in year’s past and it looked as if everyone had a lot of fun. And of course, we raised some money for youth rugby in the process.”
