Rugby is more than a sport, it’s a pathway to leadership, resilience, and opportunity. For Devon Roosna, the Kevin Higgins College Scholarship provided the support and resources he needed to excel both on and off the field during his time at the University of Louisville.
Thanks to the scholarship, Devon could focus on his academics and rugby, graduating Cum Laude while earning collegiate all-star honors. He was also part of the program’s first-ever 15s conference championship win in 2022, competed in two national championships, and toured with USA South to play Trinidad & Tobago U23 in 2023.
After graduation, Devon continued his rugby journey in England at the University of Loughborough, pursuing a Master’s in Business Analytics. Reflecting on his experiences, Devon shares:
"The biggest lessons I’m taking with me are the importance of treating your team like family and always taking advantage of the tools on the table."
This insight reflects how rugby teaches collaboration, adaptability, and resourcefulness — skills that carry into academics, professional development, and life beyond sport.
