September 13, 2011

San Diego, CA (September 13, 2011) – Mark your calendars now for Tuesday night, September 27, 2011. Not only will the USA face Italy in the last Pool C match for the Eagles at the Rugby World Cup, but that night will also be the first ever Rugby Night in America. The USRF is asking all rugby players to frequent their rugby club’s bars and restaurants on the night of Tuesday, September 27 to watch the rebroadcast of the USA-Italy match on Universal Sports at 8:00 pm EDT. Bars and restaurants across the country are signing up to be a part of the fundraising effort. Each establishment that participates in the fundraiser will be donating 10% of their sales on the night of Tuesday, September 27 to the USRF for its A Ball 4 All Campaign.Proceeds from each establishment will be used to purchase rugby balls for the kids in those specific areas. In addition, the establishment that raises the most money will receive an additional 20 balls for the kids in that area. It’s a win-win situation for all. The fans get to watch the US and Italy match with all their clubmates in what could be a very important game. Young rugby players across the country will be receiving their very own rugby ball. The club’s bars and restaurants will see an increase in sales (not to mention the great feeling they’ll have from giving back to the sport). The USRF benefits from staging the first of what will hopefully become an annual fundraising event.Once an establishment signs up to be a part of Rugby Night in America, the USRF will do its part by encouraging all the clubs in your area to frequent your bar for the USA-Italy clash. The USRF will also provide two unique posters (USA-Italy Poster #1) and (USA-Italy Poster #2) tailored to your establishment for you to display to help promote the event. If you’re a bar and/or restaurant owner, contact us now to be part of this first of its kind event. If you’re a club player or administrator, get in touch with your club’s bar/restaurant owners and encourage him or her to get involved.More information for bar/restaurant owners interested in being a part of Rugby Night in America can be found here.
