United States Rugby Foundation Establishes The Prusmack Award

San Diego, CA (April 17, 2019) – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
To honor A. Jon Prusmack, who did more than anyone to make rugby sevens in the U.S. the success that it has become and who passed away in December, the United States Rugby Foundation (USRF) is establishing a Heisman-like trophy to be awarded annually to the best male and female collegiate sevens players. Patti Prusmack, Jon’s partner in rugby and in life, enthusiastically supports this honor.
Brad Andrews, USRF Board Chair, has appointed three long-serving rugby men to oversee the award: Don Haider, Tom Pirelli and Tim DuVal. Selectors will be drawn from the U.S. Rugby community and will include former players and coaches. As of early April, the USRF has raised over $35,000 toward an endowment goal of $200,000, which will be held by the Foundation in a separate Prusmack Award Fund.
This year’s Prusmack Awards will be presented at the U.S. Rugby Hall of Fame Induction Dinner, which will take place on Friday, July 26, 2019 at Infinity Park in Glendale, CO, the night before the U.S. Men’s Eagles host Canada at Infinity Park. Information about the criteria and nominating process for The Prusmack will be forthcoming.
Contributions can be made online through the U.S. Rugby Foundation website at www.usrugbyfoundation.org or through a check, made payable to the USRF and indicate The Prusmack Fund on the memo line, to:
