United States Rugby Foundation and Team America Join Forces to Support Collegiate All-Americans Tour

August 10, 2004

San Diego, CA (August 10, 2004) – The United States Rugby Foundation and Team America have announced they are teaming up to provide financial support for the United States Collegiate All-Americans for their upcoming tour to Canada. The two groups, both non-profit organizations with a mission of fostering the sport of rugby in America, have committed a minimum of $10,000 towards the tour.“The majority of our support is earmarked for youth and high school rugby,” said Brian Vizard, United States Rugby Foundation Executive Director. “But we think it’s important to provide assistance to some of the best young players in the country as many of them will be representing the United States in future World Cups.”Jeff Lombard, Team America manager and past Eagle, said his organization’s job is to assist those players who could be wearing the Eagle’s uniform in the future. “Team America’s first priority is to support and develop amateur athletes to participate in national and international rugby competitions and there is no better way to give them vision than to put them in the picture.”“The All-American program is committed to providing our players with a ‘high performance’ rugby experience,” said Jack Clark, Manager of the All-American Rugby Team. “This commitment would not be possible without the support of the U.S. Rugby Foundation and Team America.”The All-Americans face Canada’s U21 team from a year ago on Sunday, August 15 and the tour culminates with a match against this year’s Canada U21 team on Wednesday, August 18.For more information about the United States Rugby Foundation, contact Brian Vizard at 619-233-0765 or logon to the Foundation website at www.usrugbyfoundation.org.
