July 10, 2026

We are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2026 Prusmack Award. Each recipient represents the pinnacle of collegiate sevens rugby in America.

Prusmack Award

Hattie Greenwood grew up in the country as the only girl among five children, keeping up with her brothers through livestock, ranch work, rodeo events, and football. She came to rugby in the 8th grade, introduced by her cousin, after early years as a competitive gymnast and a track hurdler and sprinter. Now in her fourth year at Life University, where she is finishing her master's in Positive Psychology, Hattie became the glue for the Running Eagles at the CRAA 7s: when two crucial players went out with injury, she took charge as captain, an attacking and defensive threat who carried Life to a championship as its most consistently excellent player. Off the pitch, her Christian faith is the most essential aspect of her life, and she hopes to use her rugby journey to share it with all those she is blessed to meet.

A Green Bay, Wisconsin native, James Rose grew up in the game his father played and coached, moving from flag rugby with Green Bay Youth Rugby to captaining his high school side, the Leprechauns, and helping lead the program to the state tournament four years in a row. He built his resume in the representative game, captaining the Wisconsin Badger selects, winning NAIs and Bloodfest in 7s with the Rebels, touring twice with the Eagle Impact Rugby Academy, and representing the United States at the U18 Global Youth 7s tournament in New Zealand. Now at Life University, the versatile back was a standout on the wing as a freshman and, in his sophomore season, was explosive at the CRAA 7s finals, leading the team in tries and helping carry the Running Eagles to a championship. Off the pitch, he has coached flag rugby since the 8th grade, and he hopes to become an Eagle, represent the USA in 2028, and one day coach.
