When Did You Find Rugby?

January 10, 2026

In the United States, many rugby players don’t discover the sport until after high school. That reality makes access, coaching, and community support critical to growing the game. Because rugby has long existed outside mainstream youth sports, countless athletes find it later than they do other sports.

For example, 2024-2025 Don Burgess International Scholarship recipient George Pritchard played soccer from age four until high school, before his athletic path turned to rugby

By expanding access, strengthening coaching, and building supportive communities, we can grow participation and introduce more young players to rugby earlier.

Your Support

Our Giving Tuesday campaign seamlessly transitioned into our End-of-Year fundraiser, once again demonstrating the power of rugby and its supporters. We raised nearly double what we did last year—a testament to the strength and generosity of this community.

Thank you for your continued support and belief in the game. Together, let’s make 2026 a year of growth and impact for rugby.
