Regency Chicago for an afternoon of rugby fun at what is now a must-attend
event on the test calendar.
Former Eagles 7s and 15s great, and American rugby television personality Brian Hightower will be emceeing the Chicago Lost Afternoon Luncheon. Former Australian Wallaby star, Australian rugby television personality and two-time Rugby World Cup winner, Tim Horan, will be the keynote speaker.
Tim will be joined at the luncheon by past Wallaby, Troy Coker, himself a three-time Rugby World Cup performer.
They join an ever growing list of past United States Eagles players who have already confirmed their attendance, including Hightower, Ed Burlingham, Jack Clark, Gary Lambert, Tom Selfridge, Eric Swanson, Brad Andrews, Butch Horwath, Mickey Ording, Tom Billups, Blane Warhurst, Chip Howard, Tony Ridnell, Rich Schurfeld, Kirk Miles, Paul Sheehy, Rick Bailey, Bill Fraumann, Mike Purcell, Fred Paoli, John Jelaco, Brian Vizard, Don James, Tim Petersen, Gary Hein, Pat Johnson, Jay Hanson, Robbie Flynn, Steve Finkel, Mark Griffin, Dallen Stanford, David Fee, Jason McVeigh and Steve Siano. In addition, former U.S. Eagles 15s and 7s coaches Ray Cornbill, Jim Perkins, George Betzler, Ron Mayes, and Emil Signes will be on hand.
Fraumann, Lombard, Purcell, Burlingham, Ording, Billups, Clark, Hanson, Selfridge, Cornbill, Mayes and Signes will be joined by fellow U.S. Rugby Hall of Fame members Dick Smith, Terry Fleener, Bob Watkins and Dick Poulson. Also, 2015 Hall of Fame inductee Rudy Scholz will be represented at the Luncheon by his son Dave Scholz, and grandson, Doug Scholz.
A raffle, which will include autographed sports memorabilia, including several rugby jerseys autographed by past and present U.S. Eagles and current and past Wallabies, including all-time Wallaby greats John Eales, Nick Farr-Jones, George Gregan, Tim Horan and Phil Kearns, will take place following the official program.
Typically the 90-minute program turns into a full day extravaganza so please plan your schedule accordingly. We don't call it a lost afternoon for nothing.
The best part of it all is that all proceeds from the Lost Afternoon Luncheon will be directed towards youth rugby, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Illinois Youth Rugby Association, Play Rugby USA and Memphis Inner City Rugby.

Follow up a wonderful afternoon gathering by helping honor those who made a significant contribution to the sport of rugby in the United States by attending the U.S. Rugby Hall of Fame Induction Dinner. The evening starts with a cocktail reception that will commence at 5:00 pm, giving guests a chance to meet and greet the inductees.Dinner will commence at 6:00 p.m., followed by the U.S. Rugby Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
This year's inductees include 1920 and 1924 Olympic Rugby Gold Medalist, Rudy Scholz; past U.S. National Team player and head coach, Tom Billups; past United States National Team players Bill Fraumann, Ed Burlingham, Mickey Ording, Mike Purcell, Jeff Lombard and Patty Jervey; former U.S. 7s and Atlantis head coach, Emil Signes; former international referee Don Morrison; three-time past-president of the USARFU and current USRF Chairman, Bob Watkins; and long serving officer of the Eastern Rugby Union and past Trustee of the U.S. Rugby Foundation, Dick Poulson.
In addition, Bob Latham will be receiving the Chairman's Award, while Ram Eddings and Nelson Spencer will be receiving Lifetime Achievement Awards.
