Don James Jr. founded BEAR Data Solutions, a cloud enabled IT services provider to all size companies throughout North America and the globe, in 2004. As CEO, James oversees all of BEAR’s day to day operations. His company had over 100 employees and over $100 million in revenue in 2012. BEAR has been selected to the Inc Magazine 500/5000 list the last three years. BEAR Data Solutions maintains 12 offices in 5 countries today.

James enjoyed success in both rugby and football while attending Cal. James played tighthead prop for Cal rugby teams from 1981-85 and during that time, helped lead Cal to four National Collegiate Rugby titles.

In football, James was a four-year letterman and three-year starter on the defensive line. He earned All-West Coast and All-Pac 10 Honors following the 1983 season. James also played in the Japan Bowl (Collegiate All-Star Game) following the 1983 season.

James was selected to the University of California Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010 for his rugby and football achievements.

After Cal, James won two national club championships with the Old Blues. He had stints with Old Belvedere (Dublin, Ireland) and Harlequins (London, England). He also attended Oxford University in 1989, playing in the Varsity Match against Cambridge.

James earned nine caps, all at tighthead, for the United States National Team, making his test debut in a victory over Canada in Seattle, WA in 1990. Today, James is a member of the Cal Rugby Advisory Board of Directors.

James resides in San Francisco with his wife, Beth, and two year old daughter, Dylan.
