 Phil Bryant - Director


USRF Director Phil Bryant has been an adjunct professor of Business Administration at Ivy Tech Community College in Bloomington, Indiana since 2001 

He served with distinction as a Captain in the U.S. Army from 1966-75, and was awarded the Vietnam Campaign Medal with three stars, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf, and Silver Star, along with many other commendations while serving in Vietnam.

His experience in the business world covers a vast array of different industries, including data processing and computer service, finance and venture capital, professional sports franchises, marketing, life and health insurance, real estate, restaurants, sporting goods, non-profits, and embroidery and silk screening service. In all, he has founded 26 different businesses since 1978.

He was introduced to rugby in 1963 while a student at the University of Indiana. He went on to play, coach, referee or administer the game until 1999. He was the Midwest RFU Director of Youth Development in the summer of 1989 and was a member of the USARFU High School and Youth Committee from 1990-1995. Bryant is also the author of “The Bryant Model” “How to Start a High School Rugby Program that Will Survive Your Term of Leadership,” a much referenced resource for high school rugby teams just getting started.
