David Yancey - Governor
David Yancey has been deeply involved with rugby for over
40 years. He began playing at Stanford followed by almost 20 years with
the B.A.T.S., winning two national club championships and earning Pelicans,
Poppies and Team America select side honors. He continues to play old boy
Past and present off field rugby
activities include: Stanford Rugby Foundation co-founder, development
chairman and board member; president of the B.A.T.S.; administrative posts with
Northern California and Pacific Coast Rugby Unions; co-founder of the Super
League and secretary/general counsel for Team America.
He is also the founder, president
and a trustee of Opportunity Partners, a non-profit 501(c) (3) public charity
organized to foster and conduct amateur sports competition and to support and
develop amateur athletes for competition in the sport of rugby football.
Dave has also organized and run
numerous rugby events, including, the Stanford Alumni Game, Golden Gate
International Rugby Tournament, the North South All Star Game, the Northern
California Rugby Ball, An Evening of Tribute to Al Moss; Rugby Friday Nights at
Kezar Stadium and numerous rugby team tours, including Australia, New Zealand,
South Africa, Great Britain and Eastern Europe.
He is the
owner, president and general counsel of Crown Capital, a commercial real estate
private equity firm with operations in San Francisco and the West.
As a Stanford undergraduate, he was on the
varsity water polo, rugby, boxing and debate teams. At Stanford Law
School, Dave was a member of the Stanford Law Review and clerked
for the California Supreme Court.

founding his company, Crown Capital. He is a licensed attorney, real
estate broker and former California State Probate Referee and Appraiser.

include: Board Member, Rotary Club of Palo Alto, CA; President, Palo Alto
Rotary Endowment Fund, Inc.; Rotary Foundation Paul Harris Fellow; National
Defense Executive Reservist, U.S. Department of Homeland Security; Board of
Visitors, Stanford Law School; Chairman, Stanford undergraduate and law school
classes; Member, Stanford Associates; Member, Stanford Founding Grant Society;
Dave resides in San Francisco with
his wife and four children. His three sons play rugby.
