John founded Brain Surgery Worldwide, Inc. a Market Research Consulting Business focused on delivering emotion based behavior insights and messaging in 1994, (www.brainsurgeryinc.com).
Brain Surgery works in major industries with clients like, American Express, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Schering Plough, Toyota, Wyeth, Amgen, Genentech, Wachovia/Wells Fargo, and Verizon Wireless. John has been a pioneer in understanding how emotion-based information predicts behavior. He has the unique ability to integrate emotional insight into actionable marketing strategies focused mainly on positioning and message development. He has helped companies understand how to utilize such information to dramatically increase their ability to increase revenues, discover competitive weaknesses, and improve marketplace performance. Prior to starting Brain Surgery, he spend most of his career working in advertising agencies and in strategic marketing consulting.
John currently serves on the Executive Advisory Council of the James Madison University College of Business and he is a board member of the Virginia Cardinals Rugby Football Club.
John has been playing rugby since the early seventies, was a founding member of the James Madison University rugby club in 1975, has since played for NOVA, the Norfolk Blues and currently plays with the Virginia Cardinals a touring old boys club.
