USRF Auctions Australian Jersey
Signed by Greats Nick Farr-Jones and John Eales

San Diego, CA (June 9, 2008) - Just in time for this year's Tri Nations tournament, the USRF is auctioning off an Australian Wallaby jersey signed by two of the game's all-time greats and Rugby World Cup winning captains, Nick Farr-Jones and John Eales. Own a part of rugby history and assist the USRF in the process by being the high bidder on this wonderful rugby keepsake, donated to the USRF by John Eales himself.

Nick Farr-Jones captained the Wallabies at the second Rugby World Cup in Europe in 1991. Australia had a couple of close calls throughout the tournament but with their star-studded team had enough to defeat England in the final and capture its first world title.

One of the young studs on the 1991 RWC winning Wallaby side was second rower John Eales. Eales went on to become one of the sport's greatest players and ambassadors. He also was the captain of Australia's 1999 RWC winning side as they whipped the French in the final becoming the first nation to win the Rugby World Cup for a second time.

Photos, a more detailed description of the jersey and more information about Nick and John and their respective Australian teams can be found on eBay, item #180262890792. The bidding will conclude at 9:00 a.m. (PDT) on Saturday, July 19, 2008.

This Australia jersey is the latest to be auctioned by the USRF. Other jerseys auctioned by the USRF include jerseys worn by the USA’s Todd Clever; England’s Dean Richards and Rob Andrew; Wales’ Paul Moriarty; France’s Eric Champ; Ireland’s Noel Mannion; Canada’s Glenn Ennis; Australia’s Tim Gavin; Scotland’s Stuart Reid; Italy’s Gianni Zanon; Japan’s Michihito Chida; Romania’s Hary Dumitras; the Barbarians’ Scott Gibbs; Canada’s Scott Stewart, and a commemorative jersey signed by the All Blacks and British Lions and another signed by the victorious Rugby World Cup captains.
